The Downs Stables are set in Findon, a beautiful village right on the Sussex downs that has been a racing village since the 1800’s. It’s a truly family run yard where Nick Gifford took over the reins from his father the infamous Josh Gifford in 2003.

Pupil Assistant Pupil assistants are training to become a trainer, or simply building up their experience. They oversee the smaller things. If a horse needs bandaging, or their bucket is broken, or a horse’s tail needs trimming, that type of thing. They keep the whole place well sewn up and ticking along.
