Can you use a brake lever upside down?
“The disc brake is not designed to work when the bicycle is upside down. If the bicycle is turned upside down or on its side, the brake may not work correctly, and a serious accident could occur. Before riding the bicycle, be sure to operate the brake lever a few times to check that the brakes operate normally.
Do v-brakes need special levers?
V-Brakes: This type of brake also attaches to brake bosses, but they require a “long-pull” brake lever (see brake levers section below). They also need a special piece called a “noodle” for the cable to work correctly.
Where do you put brake levers on drop bars?
Sight over the bars and look at the rotation of the two brake levers. The lever should be parallel to each other and to the center plane of the bike. Sight bars from above and rotate so both are parallel to one another. Lever of riders left is too far inward.
Can I use cantilever brake levers with v-brakes?
The V-brake levers pull more cable, so they pull it with less force. If you pull cantilever brakes with a V-brake lever, that force reduction means that you get much less braking power when you put the same force into your grip. Whether that’s a problem depends entirely on you.
Is it OK to hang a bike with hydraulic brakes upside down?
If a bicycle has hydraulic disc brakes (Shimano XT, SRAM Guide or etc) you shouldn’t hang it upside down or vertically. Hanging the bike upside down causes air bubbles inside the reservoir tank or the cables. This can affect the performance of the brakes until the air returns to the top of the reservoir.
Can I work on my bike upside down?
Nothing can be done to a bicycle upside-down that cannot be done better with it right-side-up, except to spin the rear wheel while hand cranking the pedals. In fact, that is what most children do when they haven’t anything better to do with their bicycles.

Should Drop bars be parallel to ground?
Comfortable position is usually when the lowest part of the bars is parallel to the ground, or points slightly downwards (towards the rear wheel axle, or a bit higher). But the only correct position is the one that feels comfortable and natural to the rider.
How should drop bars be positioned?
On drop handlebars, the ends should angle downward five to ten degrees. This flattens the part of the bar behind the brake levers, turning it into a good and comfortable place to put your hands. Never, ever rotate the bar up, so that the ends aim upward of horizontal.
Why are v-brakes better than cantilever?

They are still cable-actuated but far easier to adjust than traditional cantilever brakes. Pads are also much easier to replace than those on cantilever brakes.

To increase comfort, it is generally best to increase your handlebar height by adding spacers in between the stem and headtube. This will give you a slightly more upright riding position, and help take the pressure off of your shoulders, wrists, and hands.

What are inverse brake levers?
The most typical brake lever setup are inverse levers. They are inserted into the end of the handlebar and expand, similar to how bar-ends are installed. Riders would often put aero levers on the ends of their bars, too.
Can I use regular pull levers on linear brakes?
If you use regular pull levers on a linear brake, the lever will not be able to pull enough cable before the lever bottoms out. Vice-versa, you will need to pull the lever significantly harder to stop. Both of these scenarios should be avoided. Our Grand Cru Brake Levers are one of my favorites.
